Blog Post Theft

I was about to do some more work on a post about a former
Belleau resident.
In the course of my research
I found that someone
had taken several of my old Pear Tree Log posts
complete with words and pictures
and had posted them as their own.

I am easy-going
but some things make me cross.
This is one of them.

You (and I) know who you are
please check with me before you take any more posts.

  1. unbelievable; I think if you notify blogger they may do something about it since it's plagiarism

  3. agree with Linda, you can get blogger to deal with this shameful..and shamefaced...act

  4. Thanks, everyone. I am now looking into how I can prevent this happening again - or at least, minimise it. You, Dom, feature strongly in one of the posts about the village show...King of Scones. At first I thought there were just a couple of posts, but I have uncovered at least a couple of dozen so far.

  5. Reprehensible! I hope blogger will shut them down. I would have been incensed, but not beyond words.

    1. Hi Joanne, It gets worse. I have found another blog taking my old posts. I am on the brink of naming and shaming, I feel so angry about it.

  6. I'm amazed..... I've always thought (maybe naively) that the blogosphere was better than that. Jx

    1. So did I, Jan. So far I have found three blog sites which have taken quite large numbers of my posts and used them...

  7. I can't see the point, surely blogging is all about personal experiences. Come on Elaine... tell us who it was!

  8. Hello Cro, I have found four blogs who have published large numbers of my posts - so far. They seem to be a linked in some way. Blogger is not the most helpful at sorting things out, but I am going to formally report this abuse on just one post, for now.

It will involve republishing one of my old posts over on PTL blog - you may recall that I put everything into 'draft mothballs' a few months ago. I'll see how they get on with that one before I hit them with the large number of others.

It is a shame, I was just getting back into my stride with blogging. I think this has finally shown me that I should pursue my other interests instead.

    1. Elaine you write so nicely. What about going private and then you can control it? People only need to give you the email address they sign in with.

I have looked at it myself when i have had really horrid comments

    2. Hello Sol, Thank you. It is certainly something to consider, I'll look into it. Right now I am busy trying to get the blogs taken down - no doubt more will spring up in their place.

  9. I'm really sorry to read this Elaine.
I have heard of this happening before, maybe a couple of years ago now; time passes quickly. Someone said to me a little while ago that the blogging world is just like the real one, and she was right. There is nastiness, deceit, selfishness and a lack of scruples displayed by some in the blog world, just like in the real one.

    1. Hello Scarlet, You had a really bad experience, such a shame, I miss you blog. I know that i have been so lucky in the people i have met through blogging, but you are right, there are good and bad. I was able to let another blogger know that her posts had also been used and she has been able to take action too. It's not something i had ever thought to check for, I stumbled across the copied posts quite by accident!
