Thwarted in Belchford, Saved by Susan!

George and I often travel through the village of Belchford,
as
we take the back roads to Lincoln.

Today it was our intended destination.

This is one of the attractive village signs. (borrowed image)

We were making for
The Bluebell Inn, which  has a reputation for
excellent food and great service.

It is our 38th wedding anniversary
and the meal was a treat
from our daughter.

I had already had a sneak preview of the menu
through their website,
so
my choices were made
and
I was really looking forward to
a cheese soufflé.

Ha!

Two things were off the menu today.
The first was my preferred starter,
and
the second was the cheese soufflé
which was my chosen/desperately desired main course.

I was disappointed,
but I stopped snivelling and moved onto my second choices.

In all fairness
they were delicious;
but I still wished there had been a soufflé available!

You know what it is like when you get something into your head.

Imagine my delighted surprise when I read
My Mother's Apron Strings
latest post...it features the most delicious-looking cheese soufflé...

Susan, you are a treasure.x

Soufflé is now on my home menu this weekend.
Watch this space!
I'll post the results of my efforts.

Jonny & Ming Ming, we'll Skype you tomorrow morning.
